Ceylon Whistling Thrush (Arangaya)

The Ceylon Whistling Thrush has a very restricted range being confined to the wet montane forests over 680 metres. It is considered an endangered species. This is one of the most difficult to observe of all Sri Lankan birds. Often, the usual encounter one has with the Whistling Thrush is hearing its high sibilant call sree, or sree-reee which carries over the noise of the torrential streams running though dense montane forests which it inhabits.
